Round One Results of the 22nd Alabama State Match Play Championship & 3rd Alabama State Senior Match Play Championship

MUSCLE SHOALS, AL (August 3, 2023) – Round One Results of the 22nd Alabama State Match Play and 3rd Alabama State Senior Match Play Championships hosted by RTJ Golf Trail at The Shoals in Muscle Shoals (Fighting Joe) from Aug. 3-6, 2023.

Three players stand T1 for the 36-hole stroke play qualifying portion of the 22nd Alabama State Match Play Championship. The following players posted five-under-par, 67:
●      Ken Goforth of Birmingham
●      Tanner Guthrie of Auburn
●      Austin Coggin of Birmingham
 
“We all are playing in the same group so we are kind of feeding off one another,” said Coggin.
 
The group will start tomorrow’s round on #13 at 9:00 a.m. and attempt to continue the momentum during the final day of stroke play qualifying.
 
Within the 3rd Alabama State Senior Match Play Championship, Shaw Pritchett of Montgomery sits three strokes ahead of the competition. Pritchett ended the day six-under par (66), with seven birdies during his round.
 
Robbie Cotten of Brewton stands second, carding three-under par, 69.
 
The following players are T3, two-under-par, 70:
●      Chris Hummel of Birmingham
●      Mike Arasin of Auburn
●      Chris Cook of Pelham
 
Round Two of stroke play qualifying for the 22nd Alabama State Match Play and 3rd Alabama State Senior Match Play Championships will begin on Friday, Aug. 4, with a 9:00 a.m. shotgun start.
 
36 holes of gross individual stroke play determine the seeding of 16 players for match play in each Championship.
