Will Patrick and Shaw Pritchett Victorious at the 22nd Alabama State Match Play and 3rd Alabama State Senior Match Play Championships

MUSCLE SHOALS, AL (August 6, 2023) – Final results of
the 22nd Alabama State Match Play and 3rd Alabama State Senior Match Play Championships hosted by RTJ Golf Trail at The Shoals in Muscle Shoals (Fighting Joe), Alabama, from Aug. 3-6, 2023.  
 
 
The 22nd Alabama State Match Play and 3rd Alabama State Senior Match Play Championships continued on to the semifinals and finals as the semifinalists from each Championship battled this morning and afternoon.   
  
Will Patrick of Oneonta claimed the 22nd Alabama State Match Play Championship title, winning 4 & 2 against Jack Lawson of Haleyville in the finals match .    
 
Regarding the six total rounds he played to claim victory, Patrick replied, “It was mentally draining. It’s really just how you prepare yourself the night before, staying hydrated, just to make sure your body stays in it for all of the rounds.”  
 
Shaw Pritchett of Montgomery claimed the 3rd Alabama State Senior Match Play Championship title, winning 2 & 1 against Chris Hummel of Birmingham in the finals match. Pritchett was also the inaugural Alabama State Senior Match Play Champion in 2021.  
  
The morning began with the semifinals matches at 7:30 a.m.  
  
In the State Match Play semifinals, Will Patrick defeated Ken Goforth of Birmingham 2 & 1. 
 
Jack Lawson defeated Daniel Burns of Owens Cross Roads 1 up.    
  
In the State Senior Match Play semifinals, Shaw Pritchett defeated Adam Jacobs of Arab 7 & 6 .   
  
Chris Hummel defeated Robbie Cotten of Brewton 5 & 4.

About the Alabama Golf Association (AGA)
