Cider Ridge Golf Club to Host 29th Alabama Women’s Stroke Play Championship

OXFORD, AL (June 17, 2019) – Cider Ridge Golf Club will host the 29th Alabama Women’s Stroke Play Championship in Oxford, from June 18-20, 2019. The par-72 course will welcome 24 players this coming Tuesday.

This will be the first year Cider Ridge has hosted the Women’s Stroke Play Championship. Lee Shurden, director of golf at Cider Ridge, is expecting a great week ahead.

“We are excited to have the Alabama Golf Association with us this week. We would love to have more events here in the future,” Shurden said.

17 players are registered to compete in this year’s championship division, while seven are set to compete in the tournament division.

Last year’s champion, Michaela Morard of Huntsville, broke the record for lowest 54-hole score at Canebrake Country Club. She won by 11 strokes, carding an overall score of 195 (-21). Morard will not be defending her title at this year’s championship.

Format: 54 holes of gross individual stroke play. The lowest score for 54 holes in the Championship Division will be the Champion. In the event of a tie for the Championship, a hole-by-hole play-off will be held immediately following play.

Eligibility: Entries are open to any female amateur golfer who is a legal resident of Alabama and has an active GHIN® USGA Handicap Index® at an AGA member club.
