U.S Girls Junior Sectional Qualifying Results at Goose Pond Colony Resort

SCOTTSBORO, Ala. – Final results from U.S. Girls Junior Championship Sectional Qualifying hosted by Goose Pond Colony Resort (Lake Course) in Scottsboro, Ala. Thursday, June 27, 2019 (6148 yards, par 36-36—72, Course/Slope Rating: 74.0/123).

Two qualifying spots and two alternate positions were available at this qualifying site. 

Michaela Morard of Huntsville, AL earned medalist honors with a bogey free five-under par 67. Morard’s round included an eagle and three birdies. Emelia Smith of Enterprise, AL defeated Morgan Jones of Auburn, AL on the first playoff hole to claim the second qualifying spot. Both Morard and Smith secured their place in the 71st U.S. Girls Junior Championship. Jones will be the first alternate and Lauren Gilchrist of Spanish Fort, AL earned second alternate.

The 71st U.S. Girls Junior Championship will take place at Sentry World Golf Course in Stevens Point, Wisconsin on July 22-27, 2019.

About the Alabama Golf Association (AGA)

The Alabama Golf Association is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit educational organization founded in 1915 whose mission is to serve and promote amateur golf in Alabama. AGA membership consists of over 130 member clubs represented by nearly 18,000 individuals. The activities and services of the Alabama Golf Association are governed by a Board of Directors consisting of Alabama golfers who wish to serve the game and the association through service.

In addition to competitions, the AGA administers the AGA Women's Scholarship Fund that is dedicated to assisting young female golfers in higher education and supports the Alabama Turfgrass Research Foundation.

Since 1980, the AGA has managed the affairs of the Southern Golf Association which includes conducting the Southern Amateur Championship and Southern Junior Championship, in conjunction with the Board of Directors of the Southern Golf Association.
