U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur Championship Sectional Qualifying Results from Willow Point Golf & Country Club in Alexander City, AL

Theresa Mahlik earns medalist honors at Willow Point Golf & Country Club

Alexander City, AL – Final results from U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur Championship Sectional Qualifying hosted by Willow Point Golf & Country Club in Alexander City, AL on Thursday, August 1, 2019 (5638 yards, par 36-36—72, Course/Slope Rating: 71.9/123).

Three qualifying spots and two alternate positions were available at this qualifying site. 

Theresa Mahlik of Madison, AL earned medalist honors by posting a seven-over par 79. Kathy Hartwiger of Birmingham, AL shot eight-over 80 to earn the second spot and Ellen Weaver of Alpharetta, GA won a playoff at eleven-over par 83 to secure the final spot. Lea Green of McCalla is the first alternate and Deb Jackson of John’s Creek, GA is the second alternate.

Mahlik, Hartwiger, and Weaver advance to the U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur Championship that will be played at Cedar Rapids Country Club in Cedar Rapids, IA on August 24-29, 2019.

About the Alabama Golf Association (AGA)

The Alabama Golf Association is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit educational organization founded in 1915 whose mission is to serve and promote amateur golf in Alabama. AGA membership consists of over 130 member clubs represented by nearly 18,500 individuals. The activities and services of the Alabama Golf Association are governed by a Board of Directors consisting of Alabama golfers who wish to serve the game and the association through service.

In addition to competitions, the AGA administers the AGA Women's Scholarship Fund that is dedicated to assisting young female golfers in higher education and supports the Alabama Turfgrass Research Foundation.

Since 1980, the AGA has managed the affairs of the Southern Golf Association which includes conducting the Southern Amateur Championship and Southern Junior Championship, in conjunction with the Board of Directors of the Southern Golf Association.
