Eubanks and Kyatt Share Alabama State Mid-Amateur 36-Hole Lead

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Round two results of the 31st Alabama State Mid-Amateur Championship of the Alabama Golf Association hosted by Pine Tree Country Club in Birmingham, Ala. on Saturday, September 28, 2019 (7026 yards, par 36-36—72, 74.2/138).

Woodie Eubanks of Oneonta and Vic Kyatt of Bessemer share the lead at 139 (-5). Eubanks fired a seven-under 65 while Kyatt carded a six-under 66 to vault into a share of the lead. They hold a one shot advantage over James Salter of Auburn.

Two-time defending champion Stewart Whitt of Athens posted a one over 73 and is tied for 26th place at 150 (+6).

The cut line fell at 157 (+13) with 62 players advancing to the final round.

Round 2 Notes:

  • 7 players are under par through 36 holes with field average score of 78.4 in Round 2
  • 65 (-7) was the low round of the day carded by Woodie Eubanks of Oneonta
  • 260 birdies and 10 eagles posted in round two
  • Easiest hole: No. 6, 493 yard par 5, 4.72 scoring average
  • Hardest Hole: No. 14, 409 yard par 4, 4.72 scoring average

Final round begins tomorrow morning at 7:45 a.m. from both the first and tenth tees.

About the Alabama Golf Association (AGA)

The Alabama Golf Association is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit educational organization founded in 1915 whose mission is to serve and promote amateur golf in Alabama. AGA membership consists of over 130 member clubs represented by over 19,000 individuals. The activities and services of the Alabama Golf Association are governed by a Board of Directors consisting of Alabama golfers who wish to serve the game and the association through service.

AGA is the USGA's liaison for golf in Alabama conducting national championship qualifying, administering the USGA Handicap system including the GHIN Handicap service, course & slope rating and education. The AGA annually conducts 20 championships and team match competitions for men, women, juniors, and seniors. The AGA also conducts Alabama high school golf championships and assists with many collegiate events including the SEC Men's Golf Championship. In addition to competitions, the AGA administers the AGA Women's Scholarship Fund that is dedicated to assisting young female golfers in higher education and supports the Alabama Turfgrass Research Foundation.

Since 1980, the AGA has managed the affairs of the Southern Golf Association which includes conducting the Southern Amateur Championship and Southern Junior Championship, in conjunction with the Board of Directors of the Southern Golf Association.
