POINT CLEAR, AL (September 11, 2020) – First round results of the 38th Alabama State Four-Ball Championship of the Alabama Golf Association hosted by Lakewood Golf Club (Dogwood) in Point Clear, AL on Friday, September 11, 2020. (6964 yards, 73.2/135).

Samford’s Connor Reid of Alexander City, AL and Dylan Moncus of Opelika, AL lead round one the 38th Alabama State Four-Ball Championship, opening with a nine-under 63. Holing an eagle from the bunker on No. 7, they secured a one-stroke lead.

“Whenever one of us would make a mistake, the other would bounce back and make a great shot,” Reid said. “Playing with a teammate is a lot of fun!”

“We finished strong, with birdies on 17 and 18,” Moncus said. “We have good momentum heading into the second day.”

Brett Greene and John Wright of Fairhope, AL stand tied second with George Hall of Auburn, AL and Harlan Winn of Birmingham, AL. Each team posted eight-under 64.

The second round will begin Saturday, September 12, 2020 at 7:30 a.m. Following round two, the field will be cut to the low 30 scores and ties.

Entries are open to sides of male amateur golfers who are legal residents of Alabama and have an active GHIN® USGA Handicap Index® at an AGA member club. Maximum allowable combined team handicap is 16.8 under the USGA Handicap System™. Two players who play as partners comprise a side. Partners are not required to be from the same club. A college student is considered a resident of their parent(s)/guardian(s) “Legal Residency Criteria” as stated in the AGA Tournament Manual unless said student (a) has no dependency on his/her parents; and (b) lives full time in Alabama.
