Hancock and Alexander Crowned 23rd State Senior & 2nd Super-Senior Amateur Champions

MONTGOMERY, AL (November 1, 2020) – Final round results of the 23rd Alabama State Senior and 2nd Alabama State Super-Senior Amateur Championships of the Alabama Golf Association hosted by Wynlakes Golf & Country Club in Montgomery, AL on Sunday, November 1, 2020 (Senior: 6580 yards, par 36-36—72, 71.8/135; Super-Senior: 5928 yards, par 36-36—72, 68.9/123).

David Hancock of Greenville, Alabama fired a four-under 68 to claim the 23rd Alabama State Senior Amateur Championship title. He shot five-under 211 to finish victorious.

“There were a lot of really good players,” Hancock said. “I’m fortunate to come out on top today. It’s the second win, and you never know when you’re going to get another one. So, you just enjoy every bit of it!”

John Wright of Fairhope, Alabama finished second, posting three-under 69 for the final round and three-under 213 overall.

Charles Noto of Birmingham, Alabama claimed third in a scorecard playoff, shooting three-under 69. Altogether, Noto went three-under 213.

Stewart “Buddy” Alexander of Auburn, Alabama won his second consecutive Alabama State Super-Senior Championship title. His final one-over 73 and overall five-under 211 earned his continued success.

“Winning is great and I think at our age,” Alexander said. “We’re just blessed to have the opportunity to play golf.”

Richard Jeffers of Mobile, Alabama followed Alexander, claiming second with a three-over 75 to close. His card read one-under 215 in total.

Robert Parmar of Fairhope, Alabama shot one-under 71 for the day to finish third. Overall, he posted four-over 220.

This tournament concludes the Alabama Golf Association 2020 season. The AGA looks forward to the upcoming 2021 season.

This championship is conducted by the Alabama Golf Association.
