2022 Alabama Golf Association All-State Junior Teams and Junior Players of the Year Announced

HOOVER, AL (Sep. 9, 2022) – The Alabama Golf Association (AGA) announces the Alabama All-State Teams and Junior Players of the Year for 2022. This is the sixth year of the awards being presented by the Alabama Golf Association.
 
All-State teams are awarded based on the Alabama State Junior Golf Rankings System, which awards points per event based on the number of participants in the event combined with the overall strength of the field. These tournaments must also meet additional requirements to be a sanctioned rankings event. Teams are annually based on the player performance over the past 12 months from September 1 through August 31.
 
All-State team members, the Junior Boys Player of the Year and the Junior Girls Player of the Year winners will be honored with other Alabama State Players of the Year in early 2023.
 
2022 Alabama Boys All-State Teams
 
Boys First Team:
Nick Dunlap, 2022, of Huntsville is a freshman at The University of Alabama. He was a semi-finalist at the U.S. Boys Junior Championship. He preceded the deep run in the U.S. Junior by participating at the 2022 U.S. Open Championship at The Country Club in Brookline, MA. He notched additional starts at the Southern Amateur Championship and the U.S. Amateur Championship. Dunlap also had multiple top 10 finishes in AJGA events. Dunlap has one career AGA State Title: Alabama Boys State Junior (2018). Dunlap was the 2018 and 2021 Alabama Boys State Junior Player of the Year, and he is the 2022 Alabama Boys State Junior Player of the Year.
Jackson Mitchell, 2023, of Athens is a senior at Athens High School.  Mitchell won his first AGA title in 2022 at the Alabama Boys State Junior where he fired a blistering -10 (62) to come from behind and win the title on his home course.  He also qualified for the U.S. Junior Championship at Bandon Dunes Resorts.  Mitchell notched an additional victory at the 2021 Elite Invitational and has multiple top fifteen finishes on the AJGA and SJGT tours.  Mitchell is verbally committed to the University of Alabama.
Ward Harris, 2023, of Vestavia Hills is a senior at Vestavia Hills High School.  Harris posted three consecutive under par rounds to finish on the 3rd place podium at the Alabama Boys State Junior Championship.  He was also victorious on his home course in June at the Stewart Cink Championship and left no doubt with a final round 62.  Harris is a verbal commitment to the University of Tennessee – Chattanooga. 
Trace Bracknell, 2023, of Tuscaloosa is a senior at Northridge High School.  Bracknell posted three consecutive under par rounds at the Alabama Boys State Junior Championship to finish T5.  He also produced additional strong showing in the Alabama State Amateur, finishing T19 and was a quarterfinalist in the Alabama State Match Play.  Bracknell has multiple top 5 finishes on the SJGT and was a member of the 2022 championship winning Southern Junior Cup team.  He is a verbal commitment to the University of Alabama – Birmingham.
Charles Warren, 2023, of Huntsville is a senior at Randolph School.  Warren found most of his success with the AJGA winning the Preview at Sevierville and Huntsville Junior Championship.  Warren also had a strong showing with a top 20 finish at the Alabama Boys State Junior Championship at Canebrake Club in Athens.  He is verbally committed to Wofford College in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
 
Boys Second Team:
Tyler Watts, 2026, of Huntsville is a freshman at Huntsville High School.  Watts qualified for the Alabama State Amateur Championship and became one of the youngest players to ever make the cut, finishing with a strong T25 showing.  He had a very consistent twelve months with top 5 finishes at the Alabama Boys State Junior Championship, multiple SJGT and SSJC tournaments.  Watts was also a member of the victorious Team Alabama at the 2022 Southern Junior Cup in Diamondhead, MS.
Chase Kyes, 2025, of Birmingham is a sophomore at Spain Park High School.  Kyes had a great showing at the Alabama Boys State Junior with three under par rounds and narrowly losing the Championship in a playoff against eventual champion Jackson Mitchell.  He also had a top 5 finish at the AJGA Stewart Cink Championship at Vestavia Country Club.
William Stelt, 2023, of Auburn is a senior at Auburn High School.  Stelt finished in a tie for 8th at the Alabama Boys State Junior Championship and made the cut at the Alabama State Amateur Championship playing against the best amateurs in the state.  He had multiple top 10 finishes on the Southeastern Junior Golf Tour and a top 15 finish at the Future Masters.  Stelt is a verbal commitment to the University of Alabama- Birmingham.
Michael Crocker, 2024, of Mobile is a junior at McGill-Toolen High School.  Crocker had a top ten finish at the Alabama Boys State Junior Championship, top 20 finish at the Future Masters and qualified for both the Alabama State Amateur Championship and the Junior PGA Championship.  He had multiple top 15 finishes on both the SJGT and AJGA circuits.
Cole Komyati, 2022, of Spanish Fort is a freshman at Missouri S & T.  Komyati kicked off the year with a victory at the SJGT Magnolia Grove Junior Classic and closed out his junior golf career with a T5 finish at the Alabama Boys State Junior Championship.  He also qualified for the Future Masters and the Alabama State Amateur Championship at Bent Brook Golf Club in Bessemer.
 
Boys Third Team:
Andrew Hinson, 2025, of Huntsville is a sophomore at Randolph School.  Hinson went on an absolute tear in the early summer months with wins at back-to-back SJGT events and runner-up finishes at an SJGT and SSJC events.  He also had a top 15 finish at the Alabama Boys State Junior Championship and top 20 finishes at the AJGA Huntsville Junior Championship and Junior All-Star.
Bailey Sutter, 2026, of Vinemont is a freshman at Cullman High School.  Sutter had a top 10 finish at the Alabama Boys State Junior Championship, top 5 finish at the AJGA Junior All-Star and multiple top 20 finishes on the Southeastern Junior Golf Tour.
Parker Moellinger, 2023, of Birmingham is a senior at Vestavia Hills High School.  Moellinger had a top 10 finish at the Alabama Boys State Junior Championship, top 40 finish at the Future Masters and had five top -5 finishes on the SJGT including one win.  Moellinger is a verbal commitment to the University of Richmond in Virginia.
Trip Duke, 2024, of Fairhope is a junior at Fairhope High School.  Duke had a top 15 finish at the Alabama Boys State Junior Championship, multiple wins on the Jimmy Green Golf Tour, and a top 40 finish at the 2022 Future Masters in Dothan.  He has also found success on the Southeastern Golf Tour with multiple Top 10 finishes on the circuit.
Tom Fischer, 2022, of Birmingham is a freshman at The University of Mississippi.  Fischer had an impressive top 15 finish at the Southern Amateur Championship, the 6th ranked amateur event in the world.  He also had a top 10 finish at the Future Masters and a top 35 finish at Southern Junior Championship at the Country Club of Charleston.
 
2022 Alabama Girls All-State Teams
 
Girls First Team:
Molly Brown Davidson, 2025, of Springville is a sophomore at Hewitt-Trussville High School. Davidson turned in another impressive season by winning the Alabama Women’s State Amateur Championship, Alabama Girls State Junior Championship and qualified for the for U.S. Girls Junior Championship – making it to match play.  She had three additional victories on both the SJGT and AJGA tours.  Davidson has two AGA State Titles (Girls State Junior (2022) and Women’s State Amateur (2022) and was a member of the victorious 2022 Southern Junior Cup.  Davidson was the 2021 and 2022 Girls & Women’s Player of the Year.
Scarlett Schremmer, 2025, of Birmingham is a sophomore at homeschool. Schremmer put together a consistent year with a top 10 finish at the Alabama Girls State Junior and was a quarterfinalist at the Alabama Women’s State Amateur Championship.  Schremmer also qualified for the Junior Girls PGA Championship and had multiple top 15 finishes on both the HJGT and AJGA junior golf tours.
Ava Schwartz, 2023, of Huntsville is a senior at Huntsville High School.  Schwartz played a lot of golf and had a lot of success in the process posting top 10 finishes at the Alabama Girls State Junior and Alabama Women’s Stroke Play Championship.  She also had additional victories on the Southeastern Junior Golf Tour (4), HJGT (1) and SSJC (1) in 2021-2022.
Kate Ha, 2026, of Auburn is a freshman at Auburn High School.  Ha had a consistent year with a second-place finish at the Alabama Girls State Junior Championship, sixth place finish at the Alabama Women’s Stroke Play Championship, and multiple top 5 finishes on the SJGT and AJGA tours.  Ha was also a member of the victorious Southern Junior Cup team in Diamondhead, MS.
Taylor Trible, 2022, of Birmingham is a freshman at the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg. Trible made it to the semifinals of the Alabama Women’s State Amateur Championship in an effort to defend her 2021 title.  She also had top 10 finishes at both the Alabama Girls State Junior and Alabama Women’s Stroke Play Championships.  Trible was a member of the victorious Team Alabama at the Southern Junior Cup and has one career AGA title (Women’s State Amateur (2021)).
 
Girls Second Team:
Jinger Heath, 2023, of Decatur is a senior at Decatur High School.  Heath had a consistently strong golf season never finishing lower than 8th in any event.  The highlight of her season was a 2nd place finish at the Alabama Girls State Junior Championship at Montgomery Country Club.  Heath had additional second place finishes on the SJGT and AJGA tours while winning one SJGT event and earning a place on the victorious Team Alabama Southern Junior Cup team.  She is a verbal commitment to Jacksonville State University.
Christine Chang, 2024, of Auburn is a junior at Lee-Scott Academy.  Chang had a top 5 finish at the Alabama Girls State Junior Championship and once again qualified for the U.S. Girls Junior Championship.  She found additional success claiming multiple top 5 finishes on both the SJGT and AJGA junior golf tours.  Chang was a member of the victorious Team Alabama in the 2022 Southern Junior Cup.
Frances Brown, 2025, of Mobile is a sophomore at UMS-Wright High School.  Brown had victories on the SJGT (2), Jimmy Green Golf Tour (2), and AJGO (1).  She also had a top 10 finish at the Alabama Girls State Junior Championship at Montgomery Country Club.
Gabriella Nicastro, 2023, of Huntsville is a senior at Huntsville High School. Nicastro had another consistent year of golf, never finishing worse than fourth.  She had multiple wins on the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour, T4 at the Alabama Girls State Junior Championship, and multiple top 4 finishes on the Southeastern Junior Golf Tour.  Nicastro was a member of the victorious Team Alabama at the Southern Junior Cup and has verbally committed to play collegiate golf at Samford University.
Chloe Ruble, 2024, of Athens is a junior at Lindsay Lane High School.  Ruble was a quarterfinalist at the Alabama Women’s State Amateur Championship at Mountain Brook Club, T7 at the Alabama Women’s Stroke Play Championship and had a top 20 finish at the Alabama Girls State Junior Championship.  She also had additional top 10 finishes on both the AJGA and SJGT junior circuits.
 
Girls Third Team:
Laura Burch, 2022, of Mobile is a freshman at the University of South Alabama.  Burch had a top 10 finish at the Alabama Women’s Stroke Play at Wynlakes Golf and Country Club and finished T11 at the Alabama Girls State Junior at Montgomery Country Club.  She also had multiple top 5 finishes on the Jimmy Green Golf Tour.
Julie Waldo, 2026, of Prattville is a freshman at Alabama Christian Academy in Montgomery.  Waldo had top 20 finishes at the Alabama Women’s Stroke Play, Alabama Women’s State Amateur and Alabama Girls State Junior Championships.  She also had wins on both the PGA Section and AJGO golf tours.
Kate Cost, 2024, of Crane Hill is a junior at Cullman High School.  Cost had multiple wins on the BGA Junior Golf Tour (5), multiple top 10 finishes on the Southeastern Junior Golf Tour and a top 40 finish at the Alabama Girls State Junior Championship at Montgomery Country Club.
Anna Christian Beeker, 2027, of Tuscaloosa is an eighth grader at Tuscaloosa Academy.  Beeker made it to the Round of 16 after surviving a playoff at the Alabama Women’s State Amateur, T17 at the Alabama Girls State Junior Championship and had one win on the Southeastern Junior Golf Tour.
Yvette Gorden, 2023, of Pike Road is a senior at Pike Road High School.  Gorden finished 16th at the Alabama Girls State Junior Championship, made it to the Round of 16 at the Alabama Women’s State Amateur Championship, and a T21 finish at the Alabama Women’s Stroke Play Championship.  She also had multiple top 5 finishes on the Southeastern Junior Golf Tour.  Gorden is a verbal commitment to Anderson University in South Carolina.
 
About the Alabama Golf Association (AGA)
The Alabama Golf Association is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit educational organization founded in 1915 whose mission is to serve and promote amateur golf in Alabama. AGA membership consists of over 115 member clubs represented by over 25,000 individuals. The activities and services of the Alabama Golf Association are governed by a Board of Directors consisting of Alabama golfers who wish to serve the game and the association through service.

Since 1980, the AGA has managed the affairs of the Southern Golf Association which includes conducting the Southern Amateur Championship and Southern Junior Championship, in conjunction with the Board of Directors of the Southern Golf Association.
