Junior Golf

An important purpose of the Alabama Golf Association is to grow the game. The AGA is committed to developing the next generation of lifelong golfers by removing initial barriers of the game and promoting access, affordability, inclusion and competitive playing opportunities. The AGA also manages the Alabama Junior Golf Rankings that serve as the official ranking system of Alabama Junior Golf to amplify exposure for aspiring juniors to pursue their college golf ambitions.

Youth on Course Alabama

The core purpose of Youth on Course is to provide youth with access to life-changing opportunities through golf, with the goal of helping young people grow and succeed both on and off the course by providing opportunities to play, learn, grow and build relationships through affordable, inclusive access to play. Members play thousands of courses for $5 or less, benefit from career opportunities through the caddie and internship program and receive college scholarships. Youth on Course serves all 50 states and parts of Canada.

Selecting a schedule from the large list of junior tournaments both locally and nationally can be daunting. Alabama State Junior Rankings

Alabama Junior State Golf Rankings serves as the official rankings system for junior golfers in the State of Alabama. These rankings consider various tournament organizations and Championships across Alabama and the Southeast Region.

Girls All-State Teams

The current Girls All-State teams are awarded based on the Alabama State Junior Golf Rankings System, which awards points per event based on the number of participants in the event combined with overall strength of field. These tournaments must also meet additional requirements to be a sanctioned rankings event. Teams are annually based on the player performance over the past 12 months from September 1 through August 31.

Boys All-State Teams

The current Boys All-State teams are awarded based on the Alabama State Junior Golf Rankings System, which awards points per event based on the number of participants in the event combined with overall strength of field. These tournaments must also meet additional requirements to be a sanctioned rankings event. Teams are annually based on the player performance over the past 12 months from September 1 through August 31.

Southern Junior Cup

The Southern Junior Cup is an invite-only, Ryder Cup format co-ed team competition with four states that compete: Arkansas, Mississippi, Missouri, and Alabama. The format consists of 18 holes of match play with Four-Ball, Foursomes, and Singles Match Play sessions. Each match is worth 1 point. Half point to each side for a tie. Each state competes against the other three states in an equal number of matches. Four-Ball and Foursomes partners consist of one male and one female side, while individual matches pits male vs. male and female vs. female. All members of the Southern Junior Cup Team must participate in a minimum of one (1) Alabama Golf Association event in the current year.

High School Golf

The AGA annually conducts the AHSAA State High School Championships.

College Golf

The AGA is committed to helping junior golfers in their journey to success. For the passionate players who hope to take their game to the collegiate level, we want to provide them playing opportunities that lead them to enhanced exposure.
