About the P.J. Boatwright Internship Program

In 1991, the USGA established the P.J. Boatwright Jr. Internship Program, designed to give paid, hands-on experience to individuals who are interested in pursuing a career in golf administration, while assisting state and regional golf associations in the promotion of amateur golf, on a short-term, entry level basis.

Here at the Alabama Golf Association, our internship program offers roles focused in Tournament Administration & Operations, Tournament Media & Communications, or Junior Golf & Tournament Operations. Internship length is typically from May to August, but internship may be extended for exceptional candidates, allowing for a more immersive experience tailored to individual career goals and project timelines.

In addition to the AGA's state-wide competitions and the JGA Tour, our staff conducts the Southern Junior and Southern Amateur Championships on behalf of the Southern Golf Association. Both of these events attract premier golfers from all over the world. This exposure to elite amateur golf competition allows our interns to participate in tournament administration at the local, state, regional, and international levels.

Applications open every year from November to January.
