Alabama State Mixed-Team Championship Eligibility Change to Allow Non-Resident Partners

Kiva Dunes - Host Site of the Inaugural Alabama State Mixed Team Championship

HOOVER, AL (August 14, 2019) - The Alabama Golf Association today announced a change in the eligibility criteria for the Inaugural Alabama State Mixed Team Championship at Kiva Dunes in Gulf Shores on September 14-15.

Entries are now open to any side comprised of a male amateur and a female amateur where at least one member of each side must: 1. be a legal resident of Alabama; 2. be a member in good standing of a club which is a member of the Alabama Golf Association (AGA) and have an active GHIN USGA Handicap Index ® at an AGA member club or is a golf professional employed at an AGA member club. 

In the Open Division and Senior Open Division, a side is eligible if one partner meets the amateur requirements stated above or is an amateur awaiting reinstatement (“A/R”) and if one partner is a golf professional employed by an AGA member club.  Pro-Pro sides are not eligible.

The change in eligibility aligns with the Alabama State Parent-Child Championship that has seen steady growth in the past two years.

State Mixed Team format is 36 holes of flighted stroke play using two different scoring formats. Round 1 = Four-Ball; Round 2 = Modified Alternate Shot. 

Entry fee is $395.00 per side which includes championship cart/range fees and lunch each day. Discounted lodging at Kiva Dunes is available.

Registration deadline is Monday, September 9.
