Hoover, AL (June 4, 2020) – The Alabama Golf Association, in partnership with the USGA, remains committed to investing in our future leaders by welcoming our 2020 P.J. Boatwright Interns for the upcoming tournament season.

Brittany Pitt, a recent graduate of University of North Alabama, will be learning the world of tournament management as an operations intern. Mikayla King, an upcoming senior at The University of Alabama, and Grace Vroom, an upcoming senior at Auburn University, will both be expanding upon their experience in marketing as tournament media and communications interns. Since 1991, the USGA’s P.J. Boatwright Internship Program has funded nearly $30 million to opportune individuals with experience as staff members in the golf industry, through partnering with Allied Golf Associations (AGAs).

Currently, five out of six full-time Alabama Golf Association employees are Boatwright alumni. Historically, this internship program is a gateway to a successful career within the sports industry, the golf industry specifically. According to the USGA, one-third of the AGAs executive directors are P.J. Boatwright alumni.

“I’m eager to learn more about the golf industry and network with golf professionals in the community,” said Pitt. “My hope is that this propels me toward my future endeavors.”

“I’m excited to work alongside Grace as a tournament media and communications intern,” stated King. “As a communications major, I’m looking forward to promoting the game of golf across Alabama, while also gaining further experience in the sports marketing industry.”

The Alabama Golf Association is honored to empower our newly onboarded interns, providing further experience in tournament management, implementing membership initiatives and communications, media and marketing.
