ALEXANDER CITY, AL (Oct. 16, 2021) – Day one results of the 18th Men’s Southeastern Challenge Match, hosted by Willow Point Golf & Country Club, in Alexander City, AL, on Oct. 16, 2021. The event highlights 12-man teams representing Alabama, Florida and Georgia. Each team consists of seven mid-amateurs (age 25+), one amateur (age 21+) and four senior amateurs (age 50+) selected by their state golf association.

Team Georgia holds a one-point lead after day one of the 18th Men’s Southeastern Challenge Match. Team Florida heads into the final day with 9.5 points and Team Alabama with 7 points.

A.M. Four-Ball Matches – Round One

Nine points were available in the morning session of Four-Ball Matches, with three AL vs. FL matches, 3 AL vs. GA matches and 3 FL vs. GA matches. Both Team Georgia and Team Florida earned four points each.

Team Alabama secured one point on the board when Shaw Pritchett and Claud Cooper defeated Florida opponents, 2 up.

Standings following Four-Ball Matches:

  • Georgia – 4.00
  • Florida – 4.00
  • Alabama – 1.00

P.M. Three-Ball Foursomes Matches – Round Two

18 points were available in the afternoon session for Three-Ball Foursomes Matches. Each group consisted of six players, two per team, playing true alternate-shot format. Foursomes competed in a three-ball match: AL vs. FL, FL vs. GA and GA vs. AL.

Team Alabama secured six additional points in Foursomes Matches.

Shaw Pritchett and Claud Cooper finished with a one-point victory over Florida opponents, 5 & 4.

Earning one point, Clay Guerin and Daniel Burns defeated Florida opponents, 1 up.

John Wright and Doug McLeod secured two points, beating Florida and Georgia opponents, 1 up.

Woodie Eubanks and Brinson Holder defeated Georgia opponents, 1 up to earn one point.

Hunter Hawkins and Will Morrison halved the match against Georgia’s Vance Embry and Taylor Smith. Will McCurdy and Matthew Myers also halved their match against Florida’s Chip Brooke and Marc Dull.

Standings following Three-Ball Foursomes Matches:

  • Georgia – 6.5
  • Florida – 5.5
  • Alabama – 6

Day One Results:

  • Georgia – 10.50
  • Florida – 9.50
  • Alabama – 7.00

Three-Ball Singles Matches will begin tomorrow morning, Sunday, Oct. 16, 2021, at 8 a.m., followed by an awards ceremony upon completion of play.

About the Alabama Golf Association (AGA)
