Alex Balog and Claud Cooper Lead Round One of the 21st Alabama State Match Play and 2nd Alabama State Senior Match Play Championships

JASPER, AL – (Aug. 4, 2022) Round One results of the 21st Alabama State Match Play and 2nd Alabama State Senior Match Play Championships hosted by Musgrove Country Club in Jasper, Alabama, on Aug. 4, 2022.

Alex Balog of Elmore posted a seven-under 64 to lead Round One of the 21st Alabama State Match Play Championship. Balog birdied seven holes during his bogey-free round. 
 
Will Patrick of Oneonta finished with a five-under 66 to stand second. 
 
Ross Napier of Hartselle and George Burch of Theodore each carded a four-under 67 to both finish T3 for the round.  
 
Claud Cooper of Birmingham carded a three-under 68 to lead Round One of the 2nd Alabama State Senior Match Play Championship.
 
Standing second, Mike Greer of Birmingham fired a two-under 69 for the round. 
 
Steven Hudson of Birmingham and Shaw Pritchett of Montgomery each carded a one-under 70 to both finish T3.
 
Round Two of stroke play qualifying for 21st Alabama State Match Play and 2nd Alabama State Senior Match Play Championships will begin on Friday, Aug. 5, at 7:30 a.m. off #1 and #10. 
 
36 holes of gross individual stroke play determine the seeding of 16 players for match play in each Championship.

About the Alabama Golf Association (AGA)
The Alabama Golf Association is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit educational organization founded in 1915 whose mission is to serve and promote amateur golf in Alabama. AGA membership consists of over 115 member clubs represented by over 24,000 individuals.
