Haymes Snedeker Crowned Champion at the 34th Alabama State Mid-Amateur Championship

POINT CLEAR, AL – (Sept. 18, 2022) Final Round results of the 34th Alabama State Mid-Amateur Championship, hosted by Lakewood Golf Club in Point Clear, AL, on Sept. 18, 2022.

Haymes Snedeker of Point Clear fired a six-under 66 during the Final Round to secure his victory and claim the 34th Alabama State Mid-Amateur Championship title at his home course. Snedeker finished with a 10-under 206 overall.
 
“I’ve never won a state championship, so this is probably the biggest win I’ve ever had,” said Snedeker. “It’s been very special to win this tournament, especially at Lakewood where I play with all these guys. It means the world to me.”
 
Hunter Hawkins of Fort Payne earned second place, with a Final Round score of two-under 70, nine-under 206 overall.
 
Austin Sparks of Red Bay and Conner Elder of Mobile carded an overall eight-under 208. After a scorecard playoff, Sparks earned third place. He posted a five-under 67 for the Final Round.
 
Final Round Notes:
●       12 players shot under par, with a field average score of 74.78
●       175 birdies and 3 eagles posted in the final round
●       Easiest hole: No. 1, 526 yards, par 5, 4.62 scoring average
●       Hardest Hole: No. 16, 427 yards, par 4, 4.58 scoring average

About the Alabama Golf Association (AGA)
