ONEONTA, AL (June 22, 2023) - Second round results of the 33rd Alabama Women’s Stroke Play Championship, 50th Alabama Women’s State Senior Amateur Championship and the 5th Alabama Women’s State Super-Senior Amateur Championship of the Alabama Golf Association hosted by Limestone Springs Golf Club in Oneonta, AL on Thursday, June 22, 2023.

33rd Alabama Women’s Stroke Play Championship
 
Gabby Nicastro of Huntsville fired a low 69 (-3) for the day to lead Round Two of the 33rd Alabama Women’s Stroke Play Championship. Nicastro stands three strokes ahead of her competition headed into the final round.
 
Lauren Thompson of Midland City carded a three-over 75 for the day to stand second. Morgan Jones of Auburn posted the low score for the round, 68 (-4) to stand third. She was bogey-free today.  
 
50th Alabama Women’s State Senior Amateur Championship
 
Susan West of Tuscaloosa shot three-under 69 for the day to maintain her lead through Round Two of the 50th Alabama Women’s State Senior Amateur Championship. West made five birdies during her round today. 
 
Linda Jeffery of Prattville also posted a 69 for Round Two. Jeffery stands second, with a 36-hole total of 145 to stand just three strokes behind West. Nancy Schlich of Auburn posted a 77 today to stand 154 overall heading into the Final Round.
 
Jana Hudson of Baileyton posted an 87 today to maintain her lead in the Tournament Division, carding a 19-over 163 overall. 
 
5th Alabama Women’s State Super-Senior Amateur Championship
 
Chris Spivey of Pell City fired a one-over 73 for the day to earn the 4th Alabama Women’s State Super-Senior Amateur Champion title. Spivey posted an even-par 144 overall to secure the Championship title. 
 
2022 Champion Ann Lanier of Fairhope posted a two-over 74 to stand second on the leaderboard. Lanier carded a four-over 148 overall. Standing third, Nancy Gavin carded a six-over 78 for the round and a 14-over 158 overall. 
 
These Championships are conducted by the Alabama Golf Association. 
 
About the Alabama Golf Association (AGA)
The Alabama Golf Association is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit educational organization founded in 1915 whose mission is to serve and promote amateur golf in Alabama. AGA membership consists of over 120 member clubs represented by over 27,000 individuals. Since 1980, the AGA has managed the affairs of the Southern Golf Association which includes conducting the Southern Amateur Championship and Southern Junior Championship, in conjunction with the Board of Directors of the Southern Golf Association.
