2023 U.S. Mid-Amateur and U.S. Women's Mid-Amateur Qualifiers

MONTGOMERY, AL (August 16, 2023) – Final results from the U.S. Mid-Amateur and U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur Championship Qualifying hosted by Montgomery Country Club in Montgomery, Alabama, on Wednesday, August 16, 2023.

U.S. Mid-Amateur Qualifying: 6418 yards, par 70, Course/Slope Rating: 71.7/134
 
Three qualifying spots and two alternate positions were available at this U.S. Mid-Amateur Qualifying site.
 
Hunter Hamrick of Pike Road, Ala., Blair Hamm of Birmingham, Ala., and Will McCurdy of Auburn, Ala. successfully qualified for the 2023 U.S. Mid-Amateur hosted by Sleepy Hollow Country Club in Scarborough, N.Y. All finished the day with a 66 (-4) to qualify.
 
After a three-player playoff, two alternate positions were awarded. Will Clowdus of Auburn, Ala. won the first playoff hole to secure the First Alternate position. After the second playoff hole, Sam Audia of Birmingham, Ala. secured the Second Alternate position.

U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur Qualifying: 5673 yards, par 70, Course/Slope Rating: 72.4/129
 
Two qualifying spots and two alternate positions were available at this qualifying site.
 
Brenda Corrie Kuehn of Asheville, North Carolina earned medalist honors and the first qualifying spot. She carded a 68 (-2) for the day.
 
Theresa Mahlik of Madison, Ala. claimed the second qualifying position, posting a 74 (+4) for the day.
 
Kuehn and Mahlik will compete at Stonewall (North Course) in Elverson, Pennsylvania for the 2023 U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur Championship title.
 
After a two-hole playoff, Lea Venable of Simpsonville, South Carolina secured the First Alternate position. Courtney Vincent of Clarkson, Kentucky secured the Second Alternate position. Both players carded a 76 (+6) for the day.

These USGA National Championship Qualifiers are conducted by the Alabama Golf Association.
