Results of the 2023 U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur Championship Qualifying

ALEXANDER CITY, AL (Aug. 24, 2023) – Final results of the 2023 U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur Championship Qualifying hosted by Willow Point Golf & Country Club in Alexander City, Alabama, on Thursday, August 24, 2023 (5650 yards, par 36-36—72, Course/Slope Rating: 71.9/123).

Two qualifying spots were available at this site. Two alternate positions were also available. 
 
13 players competed to advance to the 2023 U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur Championship.  
 
Lea Venable of Simpsonville, South Carolina posted a six-under 66 to secure medalist honors and the first qualifying position. She carded a nearly bogey-free round, posting seven birdies and one bogey.
 
Linda Jeffery of Prattville, Ala. carded an even-par 72 to earn the second qualifying position. 
 
Laura Coble of Augusta, Georgia secured the 1st Alternate position, carding two-over 74. A hole-in-one on #13 gave her momentum today. 
 
Lea Green of McCalla, Ala. and Ellen Weaver of Alpharetta, Ga. both posted a seven-over 79 today. After a playoff, Green secured the 2nd alternate position on the first playoff hole. 
 
Venable and Jeffery will advance to the 2023 U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur Championship at Troon Country Club in Scottsdale, Arizona, on September 30-October 5, 2023.

Since 1980, the AGA has managed the affairs of the Southern Golf Association which includes conducting the Southern Amateur Championship and Southern Junior Championship, in conjunction with the Board of Directors of the Southern Golf Association.
