Bent Brook Golf Club to Host 53rd Alabama Girls State Junior

BIRMINGHAM, AL (June 27, 2016) - The Alabama Golf Association with conduct the 53^rd Alabama Girls State Junior Championship at Bent Brook Golf Club in Birmingham, AL from June 28-30.

39 players are scheduled to compete in this year’s tournament.

Michaela Morard (Age 13, Huntsville, AL) defeated Michaela Williams (Age 17, Athens, AL), 220-221, last year at Heron Lakes, and both are participating again in this year’s event.

There are four age divisions in the Girls State Junior: 14-15 & 16-18 (championship tees), 12-13 & 9-11 (shorter tees). The overall champion is the player who posts the lowest 54 hole score from either the 14-15 or 16-18 Age Divisions. Individual age division champions will be those players who post the lowest 54 hole total within their age division. All age divisions will play 18 holes daily, with the exception of the 9-11 that will play 9 holes daily.

Awards will be presented to the low scorer posting a 27 hole total in the 9 -11 Age Division, the low 2 scorers posting 54 hole totals in the 12 -13 Age Division, and the low 3 scorers in both the 14-15 & 16-18 Age Divisions, as well as to the overall champion. In addition, the Champion will have her name engraved on the Bee McWane trophy housed at the AGA office.
