Hawkins Retains Lead After Round Two of the 38th Alabama State Mid-Amateur Championship

MONTGOMERY, AL (September 19, 2026) – Round Two results of the 38th Alabama State Mid-Amateur hosted by Wynlakes Golf & Country Club in Montgomery, AL, September 18-20, 2026.

Round Two was suspended at 1:58 p.m. due to inclement weather. After a 1 hour and 22 minute delay, play resumed at 3:20 p.m. 


Hunter Hawkins of Fort Payne sits atop the leaderboard. Hawkins fired an impressive Second Round score of seven-under 65 with eight birdies to finish at 12-under 132 overall. Hawkins holds a five-shot lead heading into the final round tomorrow. 


Jackson King of Vestavia HIlls finished the day with an overall score of seven-under 137 to sit in second. 


Stewart Whitt of Athens climbed the leaderboard today firing a second round score of five-under 67 to hold the solo third place position going into tomorrow’s Final Round.


Three players sit T4, with a 36-hole total of 140 (-4):
  • Hunter Hamrick of Pike Road
  • James Medley of Homewood
  • Matt Johnson of Dothan

The cut line fell at +9, with 60 players advancing to the Final Round.

The Final Round of the 38th Alabama State Mid-Amateur Championship will begin Sunday, Sept. 20 at 7:30 a.m. off #1 & #10 Tees.  


The 38th Alabama State Mid-Amateur Championship is conducted by the Alabama Golf Association.
