Morgan Jones, 58th Alabama Girls State Junior Champion
ATHENS, AL (June 10, 2021) – Final round results of the 58th Alabama Girls State Junior Championship of the Alabama Golf Association hosted by Canebrake Golf Club in Athens, AL, on Thursday, June 10, 2021.
Morgan Jones of Auburn claims the 58th Alabama Girls State Junior Championship title. Jones went low, firing an impressive eight-under 64. Leading wire-to-wire, she finished the championship at 13-under-par 203.
“My irons and putting were definitely the high points of my game today,” says Jones. “I got a great flow and landed great putts.”
Molly Brown Davidson of Birmingham finished second, posting a three-under-par 69 for the day and six-under-par 210 for the Championship.
“It felt great to be in the leader group all week,“ said Davidson. “It's a great experience as a younger player. Morgan really pushed me to be competitive.”
Christine Chang of Auburn carded a final round one-under-par 71 to stand third. For the Championship, she finished at one-under-par 215.
Claiming fourth place, Midland City’s Lauren Thompson posted a final round four-under 68 to finish at even-par 216.
Securing fifth place, Gabriella Nicastro of Huntsville carded an even-par 72. She finished at two-over-par for the Championship.
This Championship is conducted by the Alabama Golf Association.
