2022 U.S. Senior Amateur Qualifier: John Wright of Fairhope

POINT CLEAR, AL (July 26, 2022) – Final results of the 2022 U.S. Senior Amateur Qualifying hosted by Lakewood Golf Club (Dogwood) in Point Clear, AL, on Tuesday, July 26, 2022 (6481 yards, par 36-36—72, Course/Slope Rating: 71.2/130).

One qualifying position was available at this site. Two alternate positions were also available. There were 24 players who competed to qualify for the 67th U.S. Amateur Championship.

John Wright of Fairhope fired a two-under 70 for the day to earn the single qualifying spot. He birdied the first playoff hole against Mike Riley of Panama City, FL to secure his position.

Mike Riley of Panama City, FL posted a two-under 70 to claim the first alternate position.

Chris Lemley of Decatur, AL secured the second alternate position, carding an even-par 72 for the day.

The cut line fell at two-under with one player advancing to the 2022 U.S. Senior Amateur at The Kittansett Club in Marion, MA, on Aug. 27-Sept. 1, 2022.

Since 1980, the AGA has managed the affairs of the Southern Golf Association which includes conducting the Southern Amateur Championship and Southern Junior Championship, in conjunction with the Board of Directors of the Southern Golf Association.
