Champions Crowned at 6th Alabama State Parent-Child Championship

BIRMINGHAM, AL (June 26, 2023) – Final results of the 6th Alabama State Parent-Child Championship hosted by Highland Park Golf Course in Birmingham on Monday, June 26, 2023.

The 6th Alabama State Parent-Child Championship was conducted today at Highland Park Golf Course in Birmingham. Teams from across the state competed in three divisions and four flights in over 18 holes of modified alternate shot where both team members played from their designated tee, selected a ball and played alternate shot until the ball was holed.
 
The team of Tony Olive + Justin Olive of Florence earned the Father-Son Overall Championship title. They carded a six-under 64, making eight birdies during the round.
 
Within the Mixed Team Division, the teams of Mark Hewes + Ella Kate Hewes of Daphne and Juan Penaranda + Maria Penaranda both posted even-par 70 for their rounds today. After a playoff for the first-place medal, the team of Mark Hewes + Ella Kate Hewes claimed the Mixed Team Championship title.
 
Defending 2022 champions Andrew Pratt + Cooper Pratt of Auburn teamed up once again this year to earn the Open Division Championship title, carding an eight-under 62.

●           Mixed Team (Overall): Mark Hewes / Ella Kate Hewes | 70 (E)
●           Open Division Champions: Andrew Pratt / Cooper Pratt | 62 (-8)

About the Alabama Golf Association (AGA)
The Alabama Golf Association is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit educational organization founded in 1915 whose mission is to serve and promote amateur golf in Alabama. AGA membership consists of over 120 member clubs represented by over 27,000 individuals.
