Conner Elder Leads Round Two of the 35th Alabama State Mid-Amateur Championship

GADSDEN, AL (Oct. 7, 2023) – Round Two results of the 35th Alabama State Mid-Amateur Championship hosted by Gadsden Country Club, in Gadsden, AL, on Oct. 7, 2023.

Conner Elder of Mobile fired a two-under 69 to lead Round Two of the 35th Alabama State Mid-Amateur Championship. He now stands six-under 136 thru 36 holes.
 
“I’ve been playing pretty conservatively–I think I’ve only hit driver five or six times per round–so I’ll definitely maintain that strategy tomorrow,” said Elder.
 
Chase Kennedy of Morris posted a 69 to stand two strokes behind Elder overall, with a 36-hole total of 138.
 
Daniel Burns of Owens Cross Roads (70, 69), Blake Kelley of Birmingham (66, 73), and Will McCurdy of Auburn (71, 68) each stand T3, carding a 36-hole total of 129–just one stroke behind Kennedy.
 
Three players stand T6, with a 36-hole total of 140:
●      Hunter Hawkins of Fort Payne (69, 71)
●      Trent Alexander of Florence (67, 73)
●      Daniel Keddie of Birmingham (69, 71)
 
The cut line fell at +9, with 62 players advancing to the Final Round.

●       15 players broke par
●       Easiest Hole: #12, Par 5  (average 4.99)
●       Hardest Hole: #4, Par 4 (average 4.65)
 
The Final Round of the 35th Alabama State Mid-Amateur Championship begins Sunday, Oct. 8, 2023 at 7:45 a.m. off #1 and #10 tees.
 
This Championship is conducted by the Alabama Golf Association.
