After a 6.5 hour delay today due to severe weather, Second Round play for the Women’s State Amateur and Women’s State Senior was suspended for the day. Super-Senior play resumed at 4:35 p.m. with the intention to complete nine-holes for a twenty-seven hole championship.
Cym Doggett of Huntsville clinched the Alabama Women’s State Super Senior title with an overall score of eleven-over par 119.
Karen Moore of Auburn finished second, five-shots back from the lead finishing with an overall score of 124.
Deb Stewart of Fairhope finished in third with an overall score of 137.
After five holes of play, Scarlett Schremmer of Birmingham and Molly Brown Davidson of Springville remain tied for the lead in the Women’s State Amateur Championship with an overall score of four-under. They are each even on the day, with 13 holes left to play.
Gabriella Nicastro of Huntsville sits in third after five holes of play, with an overall score of two-under, and she is two-over par for the partial round, 68.
In the State Senior Amateur Championship and Tournament Divisions, players made it through roughly nine holes before the weather delay. The leaderboard remains tight as players will return tomorrow for the resumption of Round Two at 7:00 a.m. with Round Three tentatively scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m. with a full field shotgun start.

About the Alabama Golf Association (AGA)
The Alabama Golf Association is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit educational organization founded in 1915 whose mission is to serve and promote amateur golf in Alabama. AGA membership consists of 120 member clubs represented by over 30,000 individuals. In addition to competitions, the AGA administers the AGA Scholarship Fund through the Alabama Golf Foundation that is dedicated to assisting young golfers in higher education. Additionally, the Alabama Golf Foundation supports the Youth on Course Alabama program providing facility access to junior golfers and provides funding for the Alabama Turfgrass Research Foundation. In 2016, the AGA earned the Gold Tee Award for “Outstanding Tournament Operations – Small Association” by the International Association of Golf Administrators (IAGA).
Since 1980, the AGA has managed the affairs of the Southern Golf Association which includes conducting the historic Southern Amateur Championship and Southern Junior Championship, in conjunction with the Board of Directors of the Southern Golf Association.
