After an impressive day on the course, Paul Garner of Tuscaloosa leads round one of the 29th Alabama State Senior Amateur Championship finishing the day 5-under 65. He holds a one-shot lead over Shaw Pritchett of Montgomery & Haymes Snedeker of Point C lear.
Joseph Fortner of Birmingham came in right behind the top three finishing round 1 in fourth with a 2-under par 70.
At the 8th Alabama State Super-Senior Amateur Championship, Robert Nelson of Fairhope leads solo into round two at 5-under par 65.
Tom Jungkind of Hoover sits in second at one-under 69. Richard Jeffers of Mobile and Stewart Alexander of Auburn shot even-par 70 to sit at T3 after the first 18 holes.
Round two of the 29th Alabama State Senior Amateur Championship & 8th Alabama State Super-Senior Amateur Championship will begin tomorrow at 7:30 a.m. off #1 and #10 tees.

About the Alabama Golf Association (AGA)

AGA membership consists of 125 member clubs represented by over 33,500 individuals. Additionally, the Alabama Golf Foundation supports the Youth on Course Alabama program providing facility access to junior golfers and provides funding for the Alabama Turfgrass Research Foundation. In 2016, the AGA earned the Gold Tee Award for “Outstanding Tournament Operations – Small Association” by the International Association of Golf Administrators (IAGA).
Since 1980, the AGA has managed the affairs of the Southern Golf Association which includes conducting the historic Southern Amateur Championship and Southern Junior Championship, in conjunction with the Board of Directors of the Southern Golf Association.
