SCOTTSBORO, AL (May 12, 2026) – Final results of the Alabama State Amateur Championship - Scottsboro Qualifying hosted by Goose Pond Colony Resort on Tuesday, May 12, 2026.

Seventy-four players vied for nine qu alifying spots and ties at this qualifying site. Play began promptly at 9:00 a.m.

Ken Goforth of Birmingham finished six -under 66 and received medalist honors. 

Austin Coggin of Birmingham and Caleb Terrell of Tuscaloosa both carded four-under 68 to stand at second.

Remaining players to advance: 
  • AJ Bradford of Athens: three-under 69 (4)
  • Harrison Martin of Gadsden: two-under 70 (5)
  • Seth Dodd of Fort Payne: one-under 71 (T6)
  • Taylor McCullum of Pelham: one-under 71 (T6)
  • Jonathan Peters of Homewood: even-par 72 (T8)
  • Brayden Cochran of Riverside: even-par 72 (T8)
  • Patrick Butler of Huntsville: even-par 72 (T8)

The cutline fell at even-par 72 with 10 players advancing to the 110th Alabama State Amateur Championship.

About the Alabama Golf Association (AGA)
The Alabama Golf Association is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit educational organization founded in 1915 whose mission is to serve and promote amateur golf in Alabama. AGA membership consists of 123 member clubs represented by over 33,500 individuals. The activities and services of the Alabama Golf Association are governed by a Board of Directors consisting of Alabama golfers who wish to serve the game and the association through service. In addition to competitions, the AGA administers the AGA Scholarship Fund through the Alabama Golf Foundation that is dedicated to assisting young golfers in higher education. Additionally, the Alabama Golf Foundation supports the Youth on Course Alabama program providing facility access to junior golfers and provides funding for the Alabama Turfgrass Research Foundation. In 2016, the AGA earned the Gold Tee Award for “Outstanding Tournament Operations – Small Association” by the International Association of Golf Administrators (IAGA).

Since 1980, the AGA has managed the affairs of the Southern Golf Association which includes conducting the historic Southern Amateur Championship and Southern Junior Championship, in conjunction with the Board of Directors of the Southern Golf Association.
