Round One Results of the 25th State Match Play & 6th State Senior Match Play Championships

SCOTTSBORO, AL (August 6, 2026) – First Round results of the 25th Alabama State Match Play and 6th Alabama State Senior Match Play Championships held at Goose Pond Colony Resort in Scottsboro, AL, from August 6-9, 2026.

Charles Warren of Huntsville sits atop the leaderboard after round one of stroke play qualifying for the 25th Alabama State Match Play Championship with a score of nine-under par 63

Austin Coggin of Birmingham sits in second after posting a round one score of seven-under par 65. Blaise Wilson of Cullman sits in third with a score of six-under par 66. 

Within the 6th Alabama State Senior Match Play Championship, Chris Hancock of Scottsboro sits in first with a round one score of four-under 68.

Woodie Eubanks of Oneonta sits in second after posting a first round stroke play qualifying score of three-under par 69. James Davenport of Opelika sits in third with a score of two-under par 70. 

Round Two of stroke play qualifying for the 25th Alabama State Match Play and 6th Alabama State Senior Match Play Championships will begin on Friday, August 8, at 8:00 a.m. off #1 and #10 tees. 

36 holes of gross individual stroke play determine the seeding of 16 players for match play in each Championship.

These Championships are conducted by the Alabama Golf Association. 

About the Alabama Golf Association (AGA)
The Alabama Golf Association is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit educational organization founded in 1915 whose mission is to serve and promote amateur golf in Alabama. AGA membership consists of 125 member clubs represented by over 33,500 individuals. The activities and services of the Alabama Golf Association are governed by a Board of Directors consisting of Alabama golfers who wish to serve the game and the association through service. In addition to competitions, the AGA administers the AGA Scholarship Fund through the Alabama Golf Foundation that is dedicated to assisting young golfers in higher education. Additionally, the Alabama Golf Foundation supports the Youth on Course Alabama program providing facility access to junior golfers and provides funding for the Alabama Turfgrass Research Foundation. In 2016, the AGA earned the Gold Tee Award for “Outstanding Tournament Operations – Small Association” by the International Association of Golf Administrators (IAGA).
