Round One Results of the 37th Alabama State Mid-Amateur Championship

ONEONTA, AL (September 26, 2025) – Round One results of the 37th Alabama State Mid-Amateur hosted by Limestone Springs Golf Club in Oneonta, AL, on Sept. 26, 2025.

Casey O’Toole of Trussville fired an impressive nine-under 63 to open the first round of the 37th Alabama State Mid-Amateur Championship. O’Toole posted nine total birdies and went bogey free to lead Round One by four-strokes.

“I hit it well today,” said O’Toole. “I mean I hit it pretty close a lot and then made a few from like 15-18 feet. It’s been a long time since I've actually played that good so we’ll just see how it goes, but I’m just going to keep having fun.”

Maxime Faure of Decatur, Alex Balog of Elmore, and Blake Kelley of Birmingham each posted five-under 67 to sit T2 and four-strokes back from the lead.


The following players sit T4, all posting four-under 68:
  • David Cooke of Vestavia Hills
  • Andrew Gladden of Birmingham
  • Hunter Hawkins of Fort Payne
  • Jake Nolen of Birmingham
Players will fight to make the cut beginning tomorrow, Sept. 27, 2025 with play beginning at 7:30 a.m. of #1 and #10 tees.

The 37th Alabama State Mid-Amateur Championship is conducted by the Alabama Golf Association.  

About the Alabama Golf Association (AGA)

Additionally, the Alabama Golf Foundation supports the Youth on Course Alabama program providing facility access to junior golfers and provides funding for the Alabama Turfgrass Research Foundation. In 2016, the AGA earned the Gold Tee Award for “Outstanding Tournament Operations – Small Association” by the International Association of Golf Administrators (IAGA).

Since 1980, the AGA has managed the affairs of the Southern Golf Association which includes conducting the historic Southern Amateur Championship and Southern Junior Championship, in conjunction with the SGA Board of Directors.
