Burningtree CC to Host Women's State Four-Ball September 15-16

Burningtree Country Club in Decatur

BIRMINGHAM, AL (September 12, 2016)- The Alabama Golf Association will conduct the 9th Alabama Women’s State Four-Ball Championship at Burningtree Country Club in Decatur, AL from September 15-16, 2016.

Thirty teams will compete in this year’s event that will be conducted over 36 holes of four-ball stroke play, 18 holes daily. Teams will be placed into flights based on score after 18 holes.

Defending champion Michaela Morard (Huntsville) will partner this year with Mychael O’Berry (Hoover) since Micheala Williams (Athens) is unable to compete due to playing collegiately for the University of Tennessee this fall. Last year, Morard-Williams fired a record twenty-one under par 123 at Lakewood Golf Club in Point Clear cruising to a six shot victory.

Four-time champion (2009, 10, 11, 14) Lea Green (McCalla) will play with 2013 champion Lucie King (Tuscaloosa). Alabama Sports Hall of Fame and USGA Executive Committee member Martha Lang (Birmingham) is in the field paired with Pam Holcombe (Florence).

Four-Ball Stroke Play format consists of two competitors playing as partners, each playing her own ball. The lower score of the partners is the team score for the hole.

Awards will be presented to the low score in each flight. Also, the Overall Champion will have their names engraved on the Jean H. Miller trophy housed at the AGA office.
