Crane & Cole Victorious at the 25th Alabama State Match Play & 6th State Senior Match Play Championships

SCOTTSBORO, AL (August 9, 2026) – Final results of the 25th Alabama State Match Play and 6th Alabama State Senior Match Play Championships held at Goose Pond Colony Resort in Scottsboro, AL, from August 6-9, 2026.

The 25th Alabama State Match Play and 6th Alabama State Senior Match Play Championships continued today as the semifinalists and finalists from each Championship battled this morning and afternoon.

Thomas Crane of Mobile secured the 25th Alabama State Match Play Championship title, winning 2&1 against Lawton Emblom of Mountain Brook in the final match.

When asked about his first AGA Championship win, Crane said, “there were a lot of low scores, so it took a lot of good golf this week. I think it’s great going into my sophomore season at Troy, I’m really looking forward to that off of a good win.”

Ty Cole of Albertville claimed the 6th Alabama State Senior Match Play Championship title, claiming his first Alabama Golf Association Championship title, winning 3&2 against Woodie Eubanks of Oneonta in the final match.

When asked how it felt to win, Cole said, “Finally. It took long enough. The first championship I’ve won and it’s pretty cool.”

The morning began with the semifinal matches at 7:30 a.m.

In the State Match Play semifinals, Lawton Emblom defeated Andrew Hinson of Huntsville 1 up.

Thomas Crane of Mobile defeated Hunter Hawkins of Fort Payne 4&3. 

In the State Senior Match Play semifinals, Woodie Eubanks defeated Gary Wigington of Anniston 4&3. 

Ty Cole defeated Joseph Fortner of Birmingham 8 & 6.

Final match contenders total holes played throughout the course of the tournament:
  • Thomas Crane played a total of 101 holes. 
  • Lawton Emblom played a total of 102 holes.
  • Ty Cole played a total of 91 holes.
  • Woodie Eubanks played a total of 98 holes.

These Championships are conducted by the Alabama Golf Association.
