HOOVER, AL – Suspended second round results of the 20^th Alabama State Senior Amateur Championship of the Alabama Golf Association hosted by Hoover Country Club in Hoover, AL on Saturday, May 20, 2017 (Ages 50-64: 6563 yards, par 36-36—72, 71.4/132; Ages 65+ (Super Senior): 5764 yards, par 36-36—72, 67.8/126).

Second round of the 20^th Alabama State Senior Amateur Championship was suspended at 3:02pm due to severe weather with 56 players still on the golf course. Round two will resume at 8:00am at Hoover Country Club.

The morning wave of players completed their second round. Sitting on the Overall Championship lead in the clubhouse is David Head of Sterrett who carded a 75 to finish at one-under 143 to hold a one stroke lead over Robert Nelson of Fairhope.

First round leader Scot Schroder of Hartselle posted an 80 to fall back to three-over 147 total.

Defending champion Bryan Askew of Decatur carded a two-over 74 for a 152 total.

The 65+ Super Senior division players remain on the course.

After 36 holes, the field will be cut to the low 48 scores and ties in the Overall Championship Division (Ages 50-64) and the low 12 scores and ties in the 65+ (Super Senior Division) for the final round.

Alabama State Senior Amateur Championship is open to any male amateur golfer who has reached his 50th birthday by May 19, 2017, is a legal resident of Alabama, is a member in good standing of a club which is a member of the Alabama Golf Association (AGA) and has an active GHIN® USGA Handicap Index® at an AGA member club that does not exceed 10.4 (ages 50-64) and 15.4 (age 65+).
