Round Two Play Suspended at Alabama State Senior Amateur

HOOVER, AL – Suspended second round results of the 20th Alabama State Senior Amateur Championship of the Alabama Golf Association hosted by Hoover Country Club in Hoover, AL on Saturday, May 20, 2017 (Ages 50-64: 6563 yards, par 36-36—72, 71.4/132; Ages 65+ (Super Senior): 5764 yards, par 36-36—72, 67.8/126).

Second round of the 20th Alabama State Senior Amateur Championship was suspended at 3:02pm due to severe weather with 56 players still on the golf course. Round two will resume at 8:00am at Hoover Country Club.

The morning wave of players completed their second round. Sitting on the Overall Championship lead in the clubhouse is David Head of Sterrett who carded a 75 to finish at one-under 143 to hold a one stroke lead over Robert Nelson of Fairhope.

First round leader Scot Schroder of Hartselle posted an 80 to fall back to three-over 147 total.

Defending champion Bryan Askew of Decatur carded a two-over 74 for a 152 total.

The 65+ Super Senior division players remain on the course.

After 36 holes, the field will be cut to the low 48 scores and ties in the Overall Championship Division (Ages 50-64) and the low 12 scores and ties in the 65+ (Super Senior Division) for the final round.

Alabama State Senior Amateur Championship is open to any male amateur golfer who has reached his 50th birthday by May 19, 2017, is a legal resident of Alabama, is a member in good standing of a club which is a member of the Alabama Golf Association (AGA) and has an active GHIN® USGA Handicap Index® at an AGA member club that does not exceed 10.4 (ages 50-64) and 15.4 (age 65+).

About the Alabama Golf Association (AGA)
