BESSEMER, AL – Bent Brook Golf Club in Bessemer will host the Alabama Golf Association’s 101st Alabama State Amateur Championship from June 8-11. Bent Brook previously hosted the championship in 2004 with Lance Goodson of Birmingham carding a 280 total.

Bent Brook Golf Club opened in 1988 with a commitment to provide a new public golf experience in the Birmingham area.  This vision led to Bent Brook to be named the Number One Public Golf Course by Links Magazine in 1991.  From its natural stream to farmhouse-style clubhouse, Bent Brook provides a scenic oasis for all who encounter its 27-hole layout.  Championship will be played on the Graveyard/Brook course.

The Championship will be conducted on a stroke play basis for 72 holes, 18 holes daily. 156 players that gained entry either via an exemption or through sectional qualifying comprise the championship field. After 36 holes the field will be reduced to the low 60 scores and ties for the final 36 holes of play. The event is open to spectators.

Last year for the Centennial championship, Turk Pettit of Auburn posted a 278 (-6) total to edge Patrick Martin of Birmingham by one stroke at The Country Club of Birmingham’s West course. Pettit is set to defend his title this year and is joined in the field by other past champions including Andy McRae of Hoover (2012), Ben Moody of Vestavia Hills (2006), and two-time champion Will Swift of Vestavia Hills (2002, 2005).

Starting times and live scoring during the event can be found on the AGA website at
