Goose Pond Colony Resort to Host 75th Alabama Boys State Junior Championship and 1st Alabama Boys State 13 & Under Junior Championship

SCOTTSBORO, AL (July 20, 2020) – The Alabama Golf Association will host the 75thAlabama Boys State Junior Championship and 1st Alabama Boys State 13 & Under Junior Championship at Goose Pond Colony Resort in Scottsboro, AL from July 21-23. The 1971 George Cobb course welcomes a record-breaking field of 154 players from across the state on Tuesday.

This is the second time that Goose Pond Colony Resort (Lake Course) has hosted the Boys State Junior Championship. The Championship was first played in 1946 with Walter Wood winning the inaugural event. Bobby Wyatt of Mobile holds the record with 4 victories (2007-2010). The 2019 Champion of the Boys State Junior Championship is Gordon Sargent, of Birmingham.

Format 13U:

• 36 holes of gross individual stroke play for 12-13 Age Division. 18 holes (9 each day) for 8-11 Age Division.

• The lowest score for 36 holes (12-13 Age Division) will be the Champion.

• In the event of a tie for the overall Championship only, co-champions will be awarded.

• Initial groupings will be for Round 1. Players will be re-paired by score for Final Round.

Format ages 14-18:

• 54 holes of gross individual stroke play.

• The field will be cut to the low 60 players and ties after 36 holes.

• The lowest score for 54 holes will be the Champion.

• In the event of a tie for the Championship, a hole-by-hole playoff will be held immediately following play. The playoff holes and their order of play will be determined by the Committee.

• Initial groupings will be for two days; the field will be cut and re-paired by score after the second round.
