Lakewood Golf Club to Host 13th Alabama Women’s State Four-Ball and 2nd Alabama Women’s State Senior Four-Ball Championships

POINT CLEAR, AL (July 21, 2020) – The Alabama Golf Association will host the 13th Alabama Women’s State Four-Ball Championship and 2nd Alabama Women’s State Senior Four-Ball Championship at Lakewood Golf Club (Dogwood Course) in Point Clear, AL from July 22-23, 2020. Offering challenging and exciting holes to play, the par-72 Perry Maxwell course welcomes 46 players (23 teams) from across the state.

This is the second time Lakewood Golf Club (Dogwood Course) has hosted the Women’s State Four-Ball Championship. The first Women’s Four-Ball Championship was held at Old Overton Club in Birmingham, AL in 2008 with Kathy Hartwiger and Missy Gooden winning the inaugural event.

Chloe Borders and Layne Dyar claimed their first title as Women’s State Four-Ball Champions in 2019. Layne Dyar will defend her title this week at Lakewood Golf Club (Dogwood Course).

This is the second playing of the Women’s State Senior Four-Ball Championship. It was first held at Gadsden Country Club in Gadsden, AL (2019) with Chris Spivey and Sue Solomon winning the inaugural event. Chris Spivey will defend her title this week at Lakewood Golf Club (Dogwood Course).

Tournament Yardage; Course/Slope Rating: 5113 yards/70.2/115

Format: Format: Championship is conducted at 36 holes of gross four-ball stroke play. 2 Divisions: Championship and Tournament. Tournament Division will be flighted after 18 holes based on score if necessary. An on-course hole by hole play-off will be used to break a tie for the overall championship.

2nd Women’s State Senior Four-Ball

Senior Yardage; Course/Slope Rating:  4393 yards/66.2/107

Format: Championship is conducted at 36 holes of gross four-ball stroke play. Field will be flighted after 18 holes based on score if necessary. An on-course hole by hole play-off will be used to break a tie for the overall senior championship.
