Round 2 Starting Times (State Four-Ball & State Senior Four-Ball)

The 13th Alabama Women’s State Four-Ball and 2nd Alabama Women’s State Senior Four-Ball Championships began today with 46 players (23 teams) teeing off at Lakewood Golf Club (Dogwood Course).

Three teams are competing in the Championship Division, two teams are competing in the Tournament Division and 18 teams are competing in the Senior Championship Division. Each team member played their own ball. However, the best individual score was recorded at each hole counting as the team score.

After a steady day on the course, Anna Claire Little of Auburn and Elisabeth Preus of Auburn carded a two-under 70 to take the lead for round one.

“We had a lot of fun today,” Little said. “We pretty much worked together, and if one of us is struggling a little bit the other one picks it up, gets the par and we move on.”

One-stroke behind, Hannah Dees of Fairhope and Lauren Gilchrist of Spanish Fort posted a one-under 71 to hold second place.

Nancy Gavin of Leeds and Savannah Payne of Jacksons Gap carded an even 72 to lead the Tournament Division.

Martha Lang of Shoal Creek and Susan West of Tuscaloosa carded a low score of six-under 66 to lead round one of the 2nd Women’s State Senior Four-Ball Championship.

“We both had a game plan for every hole,” West said. “We tried to be disciplined and stick with it regardless of the position of the other person.”

Kathy Hartwiger of Birmingham and Lea Green of McCall carded a five-under 67 placing them only one-stroke behind the leader team.
