RTJ Oxmoor Valley to Host 3rd Alabama State Parent-Child Championship

BIRMINGHAM, AL (July 27, 2020) – The Alabama Golf Association’s third Alabama State Parent-Child Championship will be held at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail - Oxmoor Valley in Birmingham on Monday, July 27, 2020. 50 teams composed of parents and their children will play the Ridge Course.

The Alabama State Parent-Child Championship is competed over one round of modified alternate shot stroke play with both players teeing off from their designated teeing ground, selecting a ball, and then playing alternate shot until the ball is holed.

Champions will be crowned in three divisions: Father-Son, Mixed and Open (Golf Professionals and Amateurs Awaiting Reinstatement playing with an amateur partner) along with winners in 13 & Under flights. Tee times will begin at 7:30 a.m. from the 1st and 10th tees.

Oxmoor Valley is one of the 11 clubs on the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail. With three courses on site, Oxmoor Valley has something for everyone. The Ridge course, which will be hosting the championship, boasts tree-lined fairways and large elevation changes that promise to be a challenge for all involved.

Tee times available for practice after 12 p.m.

Monday, July 27

7:30 a.m. - Championship Round. Starting times off #1 and #10 tees

Award ceremony immediately following play.

Prizes

Trophies and merchandise are awarded to the Overall Champion in each division and winner in each flight. Merchandise distributed to top teams in each flight. Open division merchandise is distributed based on the size of the field to both professional and amateurs. Ties for the overall Champion in each division will be decided by an on-course playoff. Flight winners will be determined by a scorecard playoff using the USGA recommended tie-breaker method. All other ties for merchandise will be shared equally.

About the Alabama Golf Association (AGA)
