Montgomery Country Club to Host 32nd Alabama State Mid-Amateur Championship

MONTGOMERY, AL (September 24, 2020) – The Alabama Golf Association’s 32nd Alabama State Mid-Amateur Championship will be held at the Montgomery Country Club in Montgomery, AL from September 25-27, 2020. A field of 124 players will compete for the chance to take home the hardware.

This year marks the second playing of the Alabama State Mid-Amateur Championship at Montgomery Country Club. The defending champion, Victor Kyatt of Bessemer, won his second Alabama State Mid-Amateur title in 2019. The inaugural Championship was played in 1989 with Emile Vaughn claiming the title.

“The Club and its membership are thrilled to be hosting a State Championship again,” said Wade Hamilton, Montgomery Country Club’s Director of Golf. “We’re glad to be able to offer people the opportunity to get some competition in, and we hope they enjoy Montgomery and our course this weekend.”

Entries are open to any male amateur golfer who is a legal resident of Alabama, has an active GHIN® USGA Handicap Index® at an AGA member club that does not exceed 8.4 and is 25 years of age as of September 25, 2020.

 

Championship Facts

Yardage: 6418 yards

Course & Slope Rating: 71.7/134

Championship Format: There will be 54 holes of gross individual stroke play and the field will be cut to the low 60 players and ties after 36 holes. The lowest score for 54 holes will be the Champion. In the event of a tie for the Championship, a hole-by-hole play-off will be held immediately following play. The playoff holes and their order of play will be determined by the Committee. Initial groupings will be for two days; the field will be cut and re-paired by score after the second round.

Round 2: Tee times at 8:00 a.m. & 12:15 p.m. off #1 and #10 tees.

Field cut to low 60 scores and ties.

Field re-grouped according to score.

Sunday, September 27, 2020

Round 3: Tee times at 8:00 a.m. off #1 and #10 tees.

Awards ceremony immediately following play.
