Champions Crowned at the 4th Alabama State Parent-Child Championship

BIRMINGHAM, AL (June 28, 2021) – Final results of the 4th Alabama State Parent-Child Championship hosted by the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail – Ross Bridge in Birmingham on Monday, June 28, 2021.

The 4th Alabama State Parent-Child Championship was conducted today at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at Ross Bridge in Birmingham. A total of 48 teams from across the state competed in two divisions and six flights in over 18 holes of modified alternate shot where both team members played from their designated tee, selected a ball and played alternate shot until the ball was holed.

The Father-Son Overall Champions, Emile Vaughan of Pike Road and Mitchell Vaughan of Millbrook partnered well to take home the hardware. They carded eight-under-par 63 for the day, making seven birdies and one eagle.

Victorious within the Mixed-Team Division are Florence’s Pam Holcombe and Payton Holcombe. They posted one-under 70 to win, making four birdies and one eagle.

Pryce Holcombe, the Special Olympics North American Unified Golf Champion, and his dad, Les Holcombe, teamed up to win the Open Division. Together, their 10-over 81 resulted in success.

●               Father-Son 13 & Under B Flight: David Beard / Grady Rutledge | 85 (+14)

●               Mixed Team (Overall): Pam Holcombe / Payton Holcombe | 70 (-1)

●               Mixed Team Flight: Paul Garner / Fairchild Garner | 75 (+4)

●               Open Division Champions: Les Holcombe / Pryce Holcombe | 81 (+10)

About the Alabama Golf Association (AGA)
