2021 U.S. Amateur Qualifying Medalist, Nicholas Dunlap

DECATUR, AL (July 5, 2021) – Final results of the 2021 U.S. Amateur Qualifying hosted by Burningtree Country Club in Decatur, AL, on Monday, July 5, 2021 (7084 yards, par 35-36—71, Course/Slope Rating: 73.7/142).

Three qualifying spots were available at this site. Two alternate positions were also available. There were 83 players who competed to punch their ticket to the 121st U.S. Amateur.

Nicholas Dunlap of Huntsville, AL fired four-under 67 in round one and three-under 68 in round two to earn medalist honors. His seven-under 135 secured the first qualifying spot.

Sam Murphy of Decatur, AL posted one-under 70 after 18 holes and five-under 66 to finish, claiming the second qualifying spot. Overall, Murphy shot six-under 136.

Michael Barnard of Gallatin, TN posted five-under 137 to claim the final qualifying spot. He carded two-under 69 for round one and three-under 68 for round two.

Jack Goldasich of Birmingham, AL secured the 1st Alternate position by winning the first hole of the playoff. Altogether, he posted four-under 138.

Hayden Carner of Hoover, AL claimed the 2nd Alternate position on the sixth playoff hole. Carner carded four-under 138.

The cut line fell at four-under 138 with three players advancing to the 2021 U.S. Amateur, at Oakmont Country Club in Oakmont, PA, on Aug. 9-15, 2021.

The 2021 U.S. Amateur Qualifying is conducted by the Alabama Golf Association.
