AUBURN, AL – (Aug. 5, 2021) Round one results of the 20th Alabama State Match Play and 1st Alabama State Senior Match Play Championships, hosted by Auburn University Club in Auburn, AL, on Aug. 5, 2021.

Tobin Ayers of Auburn posted five-under 67 to lead round one of the 20th Alabama State Match Play Championship. Ayers birdied five holes during the round and carded one eagle.

The following players stand T2 at three-under 69:

●      Dylan Moncus of Alexander City

●      Austin Coggin of Birmingham

●      Will McFadden of Mobile

John Wright of Fairhope carded four-under 68 to lead round one of the 1st Alabama State Senior Match Play Championship. Wright birdied four holes total and posted one eagle to secure his lead.

Steven Hudson of Birmingham and Emile Vaughan of Pike Road each carded three-under 69 to stand T2.

Claud Cooper of Birmingham stands fourth, one stroke behind Vaughan and Hudson, carding two-under 70 for the round.

Stroke play qualifying for 20th Alabama State Match Play and 1st Alabama State Senior Match Play Championships will continue on Friday, August 6, at 7:30 a.m.

36 holes of gross individual stroke play determine seeding of 16 players for match play in each Championship.

This Championship is conducted by the Alabama Golf Association.
