Molly Brown Davidson of Springville claimed the 59th Alabama Girls State Junior Championship title. Davidson was the only player under par for the championship, firing even-par 70 for the Final Round. She finished the Championship eight strokes ahead of her competition at one-under 209.

“So, it started kind of slow. As the day went on, I figured out my swing and putts started dropping,” said Davidson. “The rain delay got me to focus more when we went back out there. So, it was probably better for me to take that little break to clear my mind.”

Kate Ha of Auburn and Jinger Heath of Decatur each finished T2, posting seven-over 217 for the Championship. For the Final Round, Ha posted an even-par 70, and Heath posted a two-over 72.

After a scorecard playoff, Ha earned the second-place medal, and Heath earned the third-place medal.

Each standing T4, Christine Chang of Auburn and Gabriella Nicastro of Huntsville finished ten-over 220 for the Championship. For the Final Round, Chang carded one-over 71, and Nicastro carded four-over 74.

After a scorecard playoff, Nicastro earned the fourth-place medal and Chang earned the fifth-place medal.

Early morning weather conditions pushed starting tee times back 30 minutes. Competitors began play after course conditions and safety were no longer compromised by rainfall and lightning. Play was suspended at 12:07 p.m. due to weather conditions and resumed again at 2:15 p.m.

This Championship is conducted by the Alabama Golf Association.
