106th Alabama State Amateur Championship Round One Leader: Trey Rouse of Homewood

BESSEMER, AL (June 9, 2022) - Official Round One results of the 106th Alabama State Amateur Championship of the Alabama Golf Association hosted by Bent Brook Golf Course in Bessemer, AL on June 9, 2022.

75 players returned to Bent Brook Golf Course this morning to resume Round One of the 106th Alabama State Amateur Championship. 
 
Trey Rouse of Homewood stands at the top of the leaderboard, firing 8-under 63. 
 
Rouse said, “Greens are rolling really, really good right now, so, you know, it’s just getting me on the putting green and me and my uncle [Rouse’s caddy] taking care of business on the green.” 
 
Max Johnson of Lillian sits three strokes behind Rouse, posting 5-under 66 for Round One. 

Four players each carded 4-under 67, standing T3 for the round:
  • Will McFadden of Mobile
  • Ford Goldasich of Homewood
  • Connor Newton of Auburn
  • Eric Boutwell of Russellville
Round Two of the 106th Alabama State Amateur Championship began at 8:30 a.m. off holes #1 and #10 on June 9, 2022.

The 106th Alabama State Amateur Championship is conducted by the Alabama Golf Association.
 
About the Alabama Golf Association (AGA)
The Alabama Golf Association is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit educational organization founded in 1915 whose mission is to serve and promote amateur golf in Alabama. AGA membership consists of over 115 member clubs represented by over 23,000 individuals. Since 1980, the AGA has managed the affairs of the Southern Golf Association which includes conducting the Southern Amateur Championship and Southern Junior Championship, in conjunction with the Board of Directors of the Southern Golf Association.
