ATHENS, AL (July 19, 2022) – Round One results of the 77th Alabama Boys State Junior Championship of the Alabama Golf Association hosted by Canebrake Club in Athens, Alabama, on Tuesday, July 19, 2022.

156 players competed at Canebrake Club for Round One of the 77th Alabama Boys State Junior Championship. Morning tee times were delayed until 7:30 a.m. due to inclement weather in the early morning and subsequent course conditions. Afternoon tee times were delayed until 12:20 p.m.
 
Four players stand T1 after Round One, each posting a six-under 66 to sit atop the leaderboard:
●      Andrew Hinson of Huntsville
●      Chase Kyes of Birmingham
●      Bailey Sutter of Vinemont
●      Cole Komyati of Spanish Fort
 
Three players stand T5, each carding a five-under 67 for the day:
●      Ward Harris of Vestavia Hills
●      Jackson Mitchell of Athens
●      Andrew Szymela of Vestavia Hills
 
Round Two of the 77th Alabama Boys State Junior Championship will begin at 7:00 a.m. off holes #1 and #10 on Wednesday, July 20, 2022.
 
This Championship is conducted by the Alabama Golf Association.
 
About the Alabama Golf Association (AGA)
The Alabama Golf Association is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit educational organization founded in 1915 whose mission is to serve and promote amateur golf in Alabama. AGA membership consists of over 115 member clubs represented by over 24,000 individuals. Since 1980, the AGA has managed the affairs of the Southern Golf Association which includes conducting the Southern Amateur Championship and Southern Junior Championship, in conjunction with the Board of Directors of the Southern Golf Association.
