Semifinals Set at the 41st Alabama State Four-Ball Championship

41st Alabama State Four-Ball Semifinalists Jonathan Nelson and Tim Harwick

ONEONTA, AL (April 29, 2023) – Round of 16 and Quarterfinal results of the Alabama Golf Association’s 41st Alabama State Four-Ball Championship held at Limestone Springs in Oneonta, AL on Saturday, April 28, 2023.

Twelve-seeded Jonathan Nelson of Huntsville + Tim Harwick of Huntsville won two matches today. In the Round of 16, they defeated five-seeded Robson Copenhaver of Scottsboro + Thomas Looney of Scottboro 20 holes. The duo defeated the four-seeded 2021 Champions Daniel Burns of Owens Cross Roads + Alex Balog of Elmore 1 up during Quarterfinals.
 
Stroke play qualifying medalists Will McCurdy of Auburn + Blake Watts of Valley Head collected two decisive victories today with 2&1 win over the team of Matt Barnes of Birmingham + Whitt Luker of Birmingham in the Round of 16 and a 5 & 4 win over the team of Jack Goldasich of Birmingham + Jones Free of Selma in the Quarterfinals.
 
The team of Nick Dunlap of Huntsville + Bryan Askew of Huntville claimed a 2&1 victory over the team of Braxton Gillespie of Grand Bay + Connor Elder of Mobile during the Round of 16. They went on to defeat the team of Bradley Funderburk of Vestavia Hills + Jones Brown of Trussville with a 3&2 win during Quarterfinals.
 
During the Round of 16, Freeman Fite + Jackson King defeated Reed Love of Vincent + Zachary Love of Moody 21 Holes. The duo went on to defeat Garrison Guthrie of Birmingham + Ken Goforth of Auburn 21 Holes in the Quarterfinals.
 
The following matches are set for Semifinals:
●      McCurdy + Watts vs. Nelson + Harwick
●      Askew + Dunlap vs. Fite + King
 
Semifinal matches begin tomorrow, April 30, 2023 at 7:45 a.m. at Limestone Springs with the Championship match slated for approximately 12:30 p.m.
 
This Championship is conducted by the Alabama Golf Association.
