Scarlett Schremmer Leads Round One of the 60th Alabama Girls State Junior Championship

SCOTTSBORO, AL (June 5, 2023) – First round results of the 60th Alabama Girls State Junior Championship of the Alabama Golf Association hosted by Goose Pond Colony Resort (Lake Course) in Scottsboro, AL on Monday, June 5, 2023. 
 
 
 
Scarlett Schremmer of Birmingham leads Round One of the 60th Alabama Girls State Junior Championship, firing six-under 66. She holds a four-stroke lead to remain atop the leaderboard. Schremmer finished the round with five birdies and an eagle.
 
“I’m feeling pretty good. I’m hitting the ball really well and I think I have some good momentum going into the next two days,” Schremmer said. “Tomorrow, really just want to go out and do the same thing I did today which was to take it one shot at a time. Honestly, I got a little bit of inspiration from watching Rose Zhang yesterday winning her tour debut.” 
 
Frances Brown of Mobile stands four strokes behind Schremmer, carding two-under 70 with a total of four birdies for the round.    
 
Yvette Gordon of Pike Road and Kate Ha of Auburn stand T3, posting one-under 71.  
 
Jinger Heath of Decatur and Gabriella Nicastro of Huntsville stand T5, posting even-par 72.   
 
Round two of the 60th Alabama Girls State Junior Championship begins Tuesday, June 6, 2023, at 7:30 a.m. off #1 and #10.
