Partial Round Two Results of the 107th Alabama State Amateur Championship

Tyler Watts sits six strokes above the competition for Round 2 of the 107th Alabama State Amateur.

MOBILE, AL (June 8, 2023) - Partial Round Two results of the 107th Alabama State Amateur Championship of the Alabama Golf Association hosted by the Country Club of Mobile in Mobile, AL, on Thursday, June 8, 2023.

After an impressive bogey-free 36 holes, Tyler Watts of Huntsville sits six strokes above his competition. Watts finished Round 2 eight-under for a total score of 11-under 129.
 
“My putt on number one [ninth hole played] was probably my best putt of the day, I had about 40 feet for birdie and made that one kept my round going,” said Watts. “The course is in really good condition, I’ve been playing really good.”
 
Josiah Gilbert of Millbrook and Ryley Heath of Decatur each stand T2, carding a five-under 135 overall. Gilbert finished Round Two with a 68 (-2); Heath carded a 66 (-4) for the day.
 
After a weather delay beginning at 1:37 p.m, play resumed at 5:10 p.m. Play was suspended at 7:40 p.m. due to darkness, with 77 players remaining to complete Round Two. Round Two will resume tomorrow at 7:15 a.m., with a cut to the low 60 players and ties upon its completion. Round Three will begin immediately afterwards.
