BIRMINGHAM, AL (June 28, 2023) – Final results of the 2023 U.S. Junior Amateur Championship Qualifying hosted by The Country Club of Birmingham in Birmingham, AL, on Wednesday, June 28, 2023 (6874 yards, par 35-36—71, Course/Slope Rating: 72.9/134).

Four qualifying spots were available at this site. Two alternate positions were also available. 
 
Seventy-eight players competed to advance to the 75th U.S. Junior Amateur Championship.  
 
Tyler Watts of Huntsville, Alabama, posted a five-under 66 to secure medalist honors and the first qualifying position.  
 
Ward Harris of Vestavia Hills, Alabama, earned the second qualifying position, carding a four-under 67.
 
Jon Ed Steed of Enterprise, Alabama, and Chase Kyes of Birmingham, Alabama, each posted two-under 69 to earn the final qualifying spots.
 
Jackson Mitchell of Athens, Alabama, and Josiah Gilbert of Australia, each carded a one-under 71. After a playoff, Mitchell claimed the 1st Alternate position, and Gilbert claimed the 2nd Alternate position.
 
The cut line fell at two-under 69 with four players advancing to the 2023 U.S. Junior Amateur Championship at Daniel Island Club in Charleston, South Carolina, on July 24-29, 2023.

About the Alabama Golf Association (AGA)   
The Alabama Golf Association is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit educational organization founded in 1915 whose mission is to serve and promote amateur golf in Alabama. AGA membership consists of over 115 member clubs represented by over 26,000 individuals. In addition to competitions, the AGA administers the AGA Women's Scholarship Fund that is dedicated to assisting young female golfers in higher education and supports the Alabama Turfgrass Research Foundation. 
  
Since 1980, the AGA has managed the affairs of the Southern Golf Association which includes conducting the Southern Amateur Championship and Southern Junior Championship, in conjunction with the Board of Directors of the Southern Golf Association.
