Ashley-Sinclair Curtis and Hannah Dees Secure Co-Medalist Honors at the 91st Alabama Women’s State Amateur Championship - Stroke Play Qualifying

JASPER, AL (July 11, 2023) – Stroke Play Qualifying results of the 91st Alabama Women’s State Amateur Championship and 5th Alabama Women’s State Senior Match Play Championship of the Alabama Golf Association hosted by Musgrove Country Club in Jasper, Alabama on Tuesday, July 11, 2023

Ashley-Sinclair Curtis of Enterprise and Hannah Dees of Fairhope claimed co-medalist honors at the 91st Alabama Women’s State Amateur Championship. They each carded one-over 72, leading the Championship by two strokes .   
 
The following players stand at T3 after shooting two-over 73 today.  
  • Chloe Ruble of Athens  
  • Jinger Heath of Decatur  
  • Yvette Gorden of Pike Road  
  • Taylor Trible of Birmingham  
  
To conclude Stroke Play Qualifying, the three following players competed in a playoff for the two final positions in tomorrow’s Match Play .   
  • Klare Jamison of Huntsville  
  • Zoe Walker of Vinemont  
  • Julie Waldo of Prattville    

After the first playoff hole, Jamison and Waldo advanced to Round Two of the 91st Women’s Alabama State Amateur Championship. 
  
Theresa Mahlik of Madison leads the 5th Alabama Women’s State Senior Match Play Championship, posting a two-over 73. Mahlik holds a seven-stroke lead .   
  
Lea Green of McCalla stands second on the leaderboard with a nine-over 80 to finish the day .   
  
Within the Senior Tournament Division, Emily Johnson of Vestavia Hills leads, carding a 12-over 83 for the day .   
  
Nancy Gavin of Jacksons Gap stands in second, carding a 15-over 86 for the day .   
  
Eighteen holes of gross individual stroke play determine seeding within each division. The Championship Division will be cut to the low 16 players from the Stroke Play Qualifier that will compete for the overall Championship. The remaining Championship Division players will be divided into flights of four (4).    
  
Senior Championship and Tournament Division players will be divided into flights of four (4) to compete in Match Play, based on qualifying round score .    
  
All players are guaranteed a minimum of two matches, due to consolation brackets for each flight .

About the Alabama Golf Association (AGA)
